Applied Geology division provides support to other design divisions and is mainly in charge of "geological risk" assessments. Applied Geology operates in the next main fields:
Applied Geology and Hydrogeology:
Geological reports, theme-based maps editing (geological maps, geomorphological maps, tectonic maps, hydrogeological maps, soil vulnerability, land use etc.);
Applied geomorphology studies and geomechanic surveys aimed at landslide studies or underground and rock excavations;
Technical-geological assessments for seismic purpouses;
Geological studies in support of land planning regulations;
Research and Hydrogeological studies aimed at water collection, development designs for water supply wells, phreatic aquifer potential assessments;
Assistance to works supervision for foundation works, earth moving, rail or road embankments, acqueducts, sewers and drainage works;
Geological survey planning, technical specifications for the execution and logistics of field investigations;
Field investigation data processing, interpretation and graphic rendering
Environmental Geology:
Search and geological, geomorfological e hydrogeological qualification of urban and industrial waste disposal landfill sites;
Assessment of soil and groundwater contamination; monitoring systems design and detection of environmental relevant parameters;
Hydrogeological vulnerability studies; hydrogeological numerical models for the simulation of contaminant transport in groundwater;
Data processing and interpretation of hydrologic balances;
Studies of land surface and subsurface for environmental impact assessment.
