SGI "Geotechnical Engineering" and "Geotechnical Design" Divisions provide foundation design solutions based on soil-structure interaction analisys: foundation engineering, earth works, earth dams and embankments, tunneling and engineering of underground excavations, landslide engineering. SGI competences include the full range of Civil Engineering work tipologies: transport infrastructures, power plants, off-shore platforms, Industrial and civil buildings, slope stabilization, earth dams.

has mainly developed the following activities:
Design development stage:
geotechnical specialized consultancy for structural designers, foundation and earth works executive design, earth dams, soil treatment, first-phase tunneling activities such as face reinforcement and first-stage support, tunnels final facing, detailed technical specifications for the execution of special foundations and supporting structures, and for soil treatment interventions, construction site set up design.
Construction and operational stage:
assistance to works supervision and to contractor, monitoring system design, behavoiur analisys of completed structures,
stability tests.
